The Faamina project (Understanding in Fulfude – a language of the far north of Cameroon) is a portable, scalable, and independent educational system that aims to provide useful information to different categories of people in rural areas or any other disadvantaged area. It is essentially aimed at individuals, schools and training centers (such as SAR SM), health centers, common initiative groups (GIC) and even ministry delegations that would like to make certain information or content available to the population. It consists of a box containing a hotspot (Wireless Local Area Network) and a search engine that can work with or without Internet. The whole system can be powered either by a power bank (for areas suffering from power cuts) or by a mini solar station (for areas with no electricity at all). Faamina is the main piece of the Rural Digital Schools concept which aims to promote education, health and professionalization of people, especially those living in rural areas.
