FarmControler: Low Cost Weather Station for small farmers

FarmController is a low-cost modular weather station deployed in a target farm and a web and mobile platform that provides real-time environmental information for better planning of agricultural activities. The basic version of the system includes a rain sensor, a temperature sensor, a soil moisture sensor, and a pH meter (for soil quality). Other sensors are optional such as the wind sensor and the positioning sensor (GPS) to locate the station in real time. Collected data are transmitted via a GSM network to a server. Those data are recorded online and disseminated to the users of the system. In addition, prediction algorithms based on the data collected by the kits and other online databases are used to predict weather conditions. The system thus makes it possible to directly visualize data and to inform farmers depending on their localities, so that they can better plan their activities.
